Review for the Heat Loss / Heat Gain course

Date: February 13, 2025

Instructor did exceptionally well engaging the class. Recommend to do a super quick overview where the class only watches the instructor do inputs on a very simple project. See the results. THEN follow along with the inputs. Also be aware of display screen size on Zoom. At times the instructor's screen displayed too small to be able to focus clearly on what was being shown. (I watch on a large monitor - it would be worse for people on laptops or other devices)

Review for the Principles of Moving Air (POMA) course

Date: February 4, 2025

Only suggestion is to keep a continuity of topics with charts in the book and to lengthen the course a bit as 3 days is too short for the course. Added problem solving component would make the course even better too. It would also be highly beneficial to have questions relating to airflow and other issues with diagrams/pictures to get a more real life approach to what we are dealing with and how to identify and rectify problems. Overall, It was a pleasure! Thank you.

The content was reasonably practical, and having done the course I'm comfortable with designing forced air heating systems for homes.

The instructor explains the topic very well and he was very accessible. I texted him on Sunday with questions and he answered me right away. The content covered in the course is very helpful for my work.

Chris knows the software by heart. This is great, but also a bit problematic. The speed at which he can move through the spreadsheet makes it difficult to follow along. Also particular to Zoom meetings is that it is difficult to follow a small cursor on the screen due to the reduced resolution. Switching to a larger cursor might help with this, but also pausing and indicating where clicks are happening with a highlighted curser would help.

Great course and liked pretty much everything about it. The final exam was harder than I expected, though.

As someone new to the mechanical system scope of buildings; there was a lot of good content and definitely helped my overall understanding. The information was thorough, the instructor was personable. Very thorough and lots of great discussion between students and instructor.
