About this Course

Course Details

The Hydronic System Design Course trains those working with hot water heating to properly design a residential hot water heating system to meet the guidelines established by the Residential Hot Water Heating Association of BC. Quality First Registered Hydronic Designers receive a numbered certificate and stamp for submitting system drawings from the Guidelines to inspection authorities. These Guidelines are used in conjunction with the TECA Hydronic Systems Design Manual and Hydronic Piping Handbook when designing systems. The drawings in these guidelines are approved boiler room and system layouts and are used by many BC authorities having jurisdiction for inspections of hydronic installations.

48 hour course

Manual covers the entire design process, including:

  • Review of Heat Loss Calculations based on F280 design course
  • Radiant Floor and Snow Melt Panel Design Layout
  • Pump Sizing and ECM Pump Applications
  • Expansion Tank Sizing
  • Piping Systems and Near Boiler Piping applications
  • Basic Electrical Wiring Diagrams and Schematics
  • Equipment Selection Information
  • Commissioning Checklist Information
  • Appendix and Glossary

MORE REVIEWS

March 7, 2025

Eddie was very organized and thoughtful in how he presented that material being taught. He tried to expand on what was being provided to help us understand that material. He listened to our questions and concerns about the course material. Tim who taught controls, went word from word by the book and was trying to teach a course more for service technicians rather than designers. It was hard to follow and understand.
