New Heat Pump Rebates for Electric Multi-Unit Residential Buildings
Date Posted: July 17, 2025
BC Hydro and the Province of BC have announced new heat pump rebates for multi-unit residential buildings. The rebate offers launched July 15, 2025.
There are two separate rebate offerings, one from BC Hydro and one from CleanBC under the Energy Savings Program. They share many things in common:
- rebates are available for heat pumps and heat pump hot water heaters
- the offers apply to apartments, condos, and stacked townhomes (although each program has some differences on eligibility, see table below)
- applies to electric-to-electric upgrades only (e.g. electric baseboards to electric heat pumps)
- heat pump installations require a contractor in the Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN)
There are also important differences between the offers. The notable differences are outlined in the table below, however, be sure to read the full program terms and conditions on the rebate program websites.
Additional Information
Full program terms and conditions are available on the rebate program websites listed below. Contractors are urged to read the details carefully before engaging customers on the new rebates.
