The Average Annual Efficiency calculator was created as a part of the Hybrid 2 Hundred project. It is a flexible modelling tool that simulates year-round hybrid heating system performance in a typical home. Users can test different climate zones, heat pump capacities, back-up heat type, and switch-over temperatures.


The tool estimates COP, energy use, run hours, and GHG emissions, and can be expanded in future projects. The model is based off a 3,000 square foot home with 1980s style building assemblies.

Hybrid 2 Hundred Project Report

The Hybrid 2 Hundred project was commissioned to support BC residents, the province, and local municipalities in the increasingly wide adoption of heat pumps in the residential sector. The intent of this project is to evaluates the performance of residential heat pumps and hybrid heating systems using modelled scenarios and practical implementation considerations to support improved system design, performance evaluation, and energy efficiency.
