Air to Water Heat Pump Research Program

Project Description
The City of Vancouver and the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre (ZEIC) are working together, with TECA’s support to launch a research program for residential air to water heat pump design and installations.
Research compensation and Installation compensation will be available for projects that are accepted into the program. The proposed amount of funding that will be available is between $10,000 and $17,500 per project. The amount for each project will vary depending on the complexity, costs, and system types that are selected.
At this stage, TECA is collecting applications from contractors to create a pre-approved list of companies that are interested in participating in the research project. Information and feedback from the contractor and the client of the project must be submitted to access any monetary compensation from this program.
Project Eligibility
- Residential Project: Single family home, laneway, duplex, and townhomes are all eligible
- Must be in the City of Vancouver
- Preference will be given to projects that are still in the design phase, where funding impacts equipment selection
- Preference will be given to dwellings that are less than 300 m2 (3,230ft2) in finished floor area
Contractor Eligibility
Preference will be given to contractors with:
- Relevant trade experience
- Relevant certifications and training
- Home Performance Contractor Network members
- Contractors of good repute and character in the HVAC industry
