High
efficiency heat pumps move three times more
air than older gas furnaces with the same
heating capacity. Yet equipment air flow
needs run at odds with small mechanical rooms,
'no drop ceilings,' flush beams and improved
air filtration. With the demise of hot-air
gravity duct systems, and the advent of cheap
electricity, forgiving equipment, and noise
tolerant customers, forced air systems have
suffered. A solid understanding of the properties
of air and its movement is critical.
After
years of delivering Quality
First™ Forced
Air Guidelines and Ventilation
Guidelines courses, TECA is excited to offer contractors
who are new to the trade a solid foundation
in Basics of Air. If you are interested in
obtaining a registered Forced Air Guidelines
number or Ventilation Guidelines certification,
and have a minimal technical background,
this course is a stepping stone to success
in those technically demanding courses.
Basics of Air or perhaps more correctly titled the Fundamentals of Moving Air Quietly and Efficiently is TECA's newest course offering. It is also a component course of Module D of the Certified Heating Technician's 2nd year "Air Side" Program.
Increase your knowledge on how to move air through low velocity low pressure ducted systems. Basics was developed for residential HVAC designers and installers in addition to those listed below. The course improves ones understanding and the skills required to move air through duct systems, from a low of 50 cfm, typical of a small residential ventilation systems up to 2400 the required cfm which must be drawn or pushed through the indoor coil of a 6 ton heat pump's.

This course will equip the HVAC
designer/installer to explain convincingly
why duct sizing matters and why cost and
space required for custom fittings are important
to final comfort.
The course fee includes
15.0 hours of instruction with exam and a certificate of completion
for successful participants. This course
is recommended as a prerequisite for Forced
Air Guidelines or Ventilation
Guidelines.
